South Liverpool Domestic Abuse Services Ltd has a current vacancy for a woman to deliver #YouthTalk, our successful youth engagement programme highlighting healthy relationships and challenging abuse in the home.

The Young Person’s Worker post is full-time, funded to August 2018 by the Morgan Foundation, also with support from John Moore’s Foundation.  SLDAS intends for the continuation funding of #YouthTalk to be within the ongoing work of the organisation.

The main purpose of the post: To plan and facilitate domestic abuse awareness programmes for young people at outreach venues across South & South Central Liverpool.  We are looking for an understanding of the barriers that young people from all communities face when domestic abuse is an issue, and ways to overcome these barriers.  The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to young people and an understanding of the factors affecting their lives.  If you have an imaginative and enthusiastic approach to developing the organisation’s work and services, this could be the post for you.

Responsible to:        Services Line Manager

Hours:                       37 hours per week

Grade:                       Equivalent NJC Points 26-28 + on-costs

Salary:                       £23, 398 + 2%pension

Holidays:                   24 days per annum

 

Main purpose of the post: To plan and facilitate domestic abuse awareness programmes for young people at outreach venues across South & South Central Liverpool.

  1. Provide 1:1 assessments with girls aged 14 -19 years who have witnessed domestic abuse in the home environment or who are in abusive relationships themselves.
  2. Provide advocacy and information; attend multi-agency meetings to ensure appropriate safeguarding measures are in place.
  3. Facilitate the 12 week group-based programme #YouthTalk at the SLDAS centre, schools, youth centres and youth training centres and other facilities across South and South Central Liverpool.
  4. To work with the organisation to develop further programmes suitable for and targeting young people.
  5. To raise awareness and educate young people about healthy relationships and where they can get support.
  6. To liaise with partner agencies to promote the #YouthTalk programme to make progress towards prevention and early intervention of domestic abuse.
  7. To contact partner agencies and provide training to other professionals working with young people to enable them to understand how to respond to disclosures of domestic abuse appropriately.
  8. To deliver the range of programmes by:
  1. Organising venues
  2. Purchasing materials necessary for programme to take place
  3. Attending session planning meetings at SLDAS
  4. Working with volunteers to learn co-facilitation of the programme for young people
To work as part of the SLDAS team and within SLDAS policy and procedures including confidentiality, safeguarding guidelines and equal opportunities legislation.

To maintain all SLDAS monitoring and reporting systems, keeping accurate records and reporting regularly to the team, Board and funders as required
